Counselling in English

Have you faced a life crisis, such as the end of a relationship, lost a loved one, become seriously ill or experienced another sudden change? Are you stressed by the demands of Social Media, what you should be and look like? Have you lost interest in things that used to be important to you? Do you feel work-related stress?

A Social Psychologist’s counselling is support, guidance and coaching based on interaction and individual needs to support well-being. Counselling focuses on the individual’s immediate or near future concerns. The goal is to find ways of thinking and behaving to reduce the mental load and to move toward living productive and psychologically healthy life. Counselling is based on trust, a genuine and respectful encounter, and being heard.

Counselling is not psychotherapy, psychiatric treatment or diagnostic and therefore not KELA compensable. Counselling topics and discussions are not recorded in information systems. A referral is not required for appointments.

What is Social Psychology?

Social Psychology is interested in how individuals affect and are affected by other people and by their social and physical environments. It also focuses on how an individual uses various environmental resources to build himself and his life.

As a science, Social Psychology studies interaction, different relationships between individuals and groups, and the social shaping of the human mind.

Social psychologists are experts in human interaction and see people as fundamentally social. Individuals may belong to many different types of social groups that affect them. The groups can be family, work or study community, a circle of friends, hobby group or religious communities. These different groups have their own rules and regulations that members share and must follow in order to be accepted by other group members.
